AccuRender nXt

advanced rendering for AutoCAD

I've just implemented Intel's denoising library in AccuRender Studio. I think the results are very exciting.  Most models seem to be something like 4-10 times faster(!).  I'm pretty darn sure this makes AccuRender Studio faster than the original Standard Engine, with much better results and much less monkeying around (no daylight sources, reflective shaders, etc.)

The Intel Open Image Denoise, unlike nVidia Optix (which I had previously implemented), does not require a specific GPU.  It runs on modern Intel CPUs and seems to be equally fast and perhaps a little better in quality.

You can get it on the Download->AccuRender Studio page.  Please note that I have changed the names of the AutoCAD plugins, so early adopters will have to repeat the netload command step.

A couple of examples, courtesy of Peter Milner's models.  Click on them to see them full size.

I do have a relatively fast 16 core machine, however, this one ran for one minute(!):

This one ran for five minutes-- it's got a ways to go but this level of completion would have been hours and hours before.

More to come.

That's the one. Thanks.

Why is it not honouring ArMaterials for me? I have attached three images:

1. Realistic view in AutoCAD 2018

2. NXT render of the same (standard mode, ran for about 1:22)

3. ArStudio render of the same (ran for about 1:50)

As you can see the ArStudio render is in monochrome. Am I doing something wrong?

Not sure-- can you send a sample drawing?  If so, you can send a link or an attachment privately to roy@mcneel.com.

I've attached the drawing file to this message.

Thanks-- I took a quick look.  This drawing actually only has one AccuRender material called "Silver".  The rest are AutoCAD materials only.  Currently I'm ignoring AutoCAD texture mapping in ArStudio.

I can probably change this behavior and at least make it work as well as nXt does.  I'll look into it later today.

I changed the software to better handle native AutoCAD materials including some texture mapping.

To try it out-- in the Start Menu under AccuRender Studio Extras there's an app called Update Manager.  Open it and install build 0141.

If you've already saved the drawing with ArStudio data you can remove it using the ARREMOVEDATA command so it will redo any material conversions.  Let me know.

Ok will do this tomorrow.

Hi Roy,

I've done a reboot and it has made no difference to the Open Material problem.

I'm running AutoCAD Mechanical 2019 on a Windows 7 machine.

Gotta be the Windows 7 thing.  I'm out most of today-- I'll do some research this weekend.

When you get a chance-- in the Start Menu under AccuRender Studio Extras there's an app called Update Manager.  Try updating to build 0140 and let me know if it fixes the problem.

That seems to have done the job.

Thanks.

Great.  Just FYI it's not a perfect solution.  Because I can't set the initial folder on your system, the Open File box may put you in a weird place.  The libraries will be located in Documents->AccuRender Libraries.  For now there isn't a lot (may nothing) in those folders, although if you do grab something from the cloud it will end up there.

CAN WE GET PETER MILNER TO TRAIN SOME OF US FOR A TOKEN ?

Good day, forum members,I was thinking that we could each, if interested, contribute a significant token to give Peter Milner and David to train us virtually in nxt render for Autocad. Am not sure he still uses it but the experience he has spanning over 20 years cannot be underestimated. I wish the forum co-ordinators could look into this. So that more of us will produce realistic renders with the paid version of nxt render and we will be able to encourage other users of other more advanced…See More

3D_Replication final

I created this replication of one of Peter Milner's renders, not with AI but with sketchup (with the matchnewphoto tool), autocad and nxtrender.Critics and comments are welcome.
